Individual extension fibres are attached to your natural lashes, one lash at a time. Because they sit on your own lashes, they fall away naturally as those lashes shed and regrow. This is different from strip lashes, which are a removable band, and from a lash lift, which curls your own lashes without adding fibres.
Choosing your lash style
The most useful decision before your first appointment is the look you want: subtle definition, a soft wispy finish, or more fullness. Bring a reference photo if you have one. Your natural lashes are assessed before length, curl and fullness are proposed, because the extensions need to suit the natural lashes supporting them.

How long eyelash extensions last
As a general guide, the American Academy of Ophthalmology describes typical wear of around three to four weeks, as extensions fall away with your natural lashes. Your own lash cycle, the set applied and daily care all affect how full your lashes stay.

Caring for your lashes
Clean your lashes as instructed, handle them gently, and avoid rubbing or pulling them. If you want the extensions removed, ask for professional removal rather than picking them off, which can damage your natural lashes.
If you have eye pain, marked swelling or changes in vision, seek medical assessment promptly. These are not routine maintenance issues.
